Those who approach the Sacrament of Reconciliation obtain pardon from God's mercy for the offense committed against him, and are, at the same time, reconciled with the Church which they have wounded by their sins and which - by charity, by example, and by prayer - labors for their conversion.

Preparing Youth for First Reconciliation
In terms of preparing youth for the Sacrament of Reconciliation, according to Diocesan policies, students in Grade 2 are in the preparation stage for this sacrament, and this preparation happens through our school and through our Faith Formation Program. Parent meetings are held throughout the year, and the parent(s) are very involved in the preparation of their child(ren) for this sacrament.
The catechist - in religious education classes, and the Grade 2 Cathedral School teacher(s) - through regular classroom instruction, each give an in-depth presentation on all aspects of doctrine and faith for this age level.
