Faith Formation The first catechists in any child’s life are the family members with whom he or she lives. What happens at home – both positive and negative – provides lessons for life. In the family, faith is shared as part of the unfolding of daily life. The home or “domestic church” provides a real place in which a child learns to live his or her faith as well as understanding it.
Our goal is to create a program of lifelong faith formation that is centered in and flows out of the events of Church life. It embraces all ages and generations, promotes faith growth at home, and promotes participation in Church life.

Catechesis of the Good Shepherd This fall we are offering a Level 1 Atrium for children to begin formation in the Catechesis of the Good Shepherd methodology; this instruction is modeled after the educational philosophy of Maria Montessori. If you are unfamiliar with CGS, this video gives a great background:
https://www.cgsusa.org/discover/begin-cgs/cgs-in-the-school/ and this article provides the same:

Grades 7-8 Preparation for the Sacrament of Confirmation begins at Cathedral of the Holy Spirit in Grade 7 and it is a 2-year preparation program. The youth of the parish receive the Gift of the Holy Spirit in the Sacrament of Confirmation in the fall of their 9th grade year. Confirmation classes are held for both grades at 6:45 PM on Wednesdays. See this year's Faith Formation calendar found in the
DOCUMENTS submenu on this page.
Who teaches the Faith Formation Classes? Parish volunteers (catechists) teach the classes for grades Pre K through 8. To give the students the very best in quality catechesis - in organization and resources - these volunteers are given the opportunity to be professionally trained. The catechists are also monitored and evaluated from time to time. All volunteers go through the Diocese of Bismarck Safe Environment Training and have background checks performed.
If you have an interest in volunteering as a Catechist for our Cathedral Faith Formation program, please click on the Catechist Job Description found in the DOCUMENTS submenu on this page.
What is the cost to place a child in Parish Faith Formation? A nominal fee per student is charged for the Faith Formation program.
