Prayer is the raising of one's mind and heart to God in thanksgiving and in praise of His glory. It can also include the requesting of good things from God. It is an act by which one enters into awareness of a loving communion with God. "Prayer is the response of faith to the free promise of salvation and also a response of love to the thirst of the only Son of God" (CCC, no. 2561).

There are several prayer opportunities offered at Cathedral of the Holy Spirit:- Eucharistic Adoration - Eucharistic Adoration takes place Sunday 1:00 PM to 9:00 PM and Monday through Thursday from 9:00 AM to 9:00 PM. If you would like to sign up for an hour of adoration each week or would like to be a substitute, you may contact the parish office at 223-1033.
- First Saturday Marian Devotion - Please join us the first Saturday of every month (barring any liturgical schedule conflicts) in praying a special Marian Devotion. A Cathedral priest leads the Marian Devotion – Mary, Mother of Perpetual Help – after the 8:00 AM Mass. There is no LOTH Morning Prayer on the Saturdays the devotion is prayed. - Family Holy Hour - Families with children are welcome to attend the Family Holy Hour on Sundays at 4:00 PM in the adoration chapel. You may spend as much time as you can, whether it is 15 minutes or the full hour. Children's books, activity sheets, and prayer guides are available.
- Cathedral School Moms Prayer Group - Mothers of Cathedral students come together to pray the rosary for children and schools Fridays during the school year at 9:45 AM in the church lower level.
- College/Career Moms Prayer Group - Consists of mothers who gather to pray for their older children who are now in college or working in a career. The group meets Tuesday mornings when school is in session at 8:45 AM in the Cathedral lower level.
